Born from La Raza. Built for Every Zip Code. — The TRADICION Story

Santa Barbara, California • Est. 2024

Born from La Raza. Built for Every Zip Code.

"TRADICION was inspired by the release of La Raza by Kid Frost. His success meant other Chicanos had a chance."

When Kid Frost dropped La Raza in 1990, he didn't just make a record — he cracked open a door. Some called it provoking. His true listeners heard something else: brown pride, raza unity, and the sound of a people who refused to be invisible.

That record planted a seed. TRADICION grew from it.

We are second-generation Mexican Americans — first born to Mexican immigrants — proud Chicanos from Santa Barbara, California. We didn't start a brand. We started a statement. Our products are made for us: for the kid raised bilingual in a house that smelled like tortillas and frijoles, who grew up navigating two worlds and came out rooted in both. For the ones who never had to be told to be proud — they just were.

The aim isn't provocation. The aim is what Kid Frost's true listeners already knew: cultural pride isn't a threat. It's a foundation.

Then Came Raza Park.

If La Raza was the declaration, Raza Park by Latino Velvet — featuring Kid Frost and Roger Troutman — is the vision. A park where La Raza gathers. Where it doesn't matter what city you're from or what year you were born — you belong here.

Roger Troutman bringing his voice from Zapp & Roger. Kid Frost back again, same energy, broader reach. Don Cisco holding it down. That collaboration — Chicano pride meeting R&B soul meeting funk — is exactly the kind of unity TRADICION is built on. Not one sound. One people.

And in between those two — 1992 — Proper Dos dropped Mexican Power. Bilingual, proud, unashamed. Spanish and English in the same breath because that's how we actually talk. That song hit so deep it became a design. The TRADICION Mexican Power collection exists because of it. Music becoming apparel. Culture becoming something you can wear.

Three anthems. One mission.

What We Believe.

We believe in the healing power of cannabis — with over 30 years of firsthand experience, we have seen what it does for real people living real lives. It heals. We stand behind that truth, sin disculpas.

We believe entrepreneurship is liberation. Our parents and grandparents built businesses with their bare hands — not because it was easy, but because ownership was the only door they could kick open themselves. We are not here to work for someone else's legacy. We are here to build our own — and to lift up every person in our community who has the fire to do the same.

We love pitbulls because they are loyal, misunderstood, unfairly judged, and tougher than anyone gives them credit for. The pitbull is a barrio icon. A symbol of fierce love and protection. We stand with the breed and the people who love them, sin disculpas.

Elevating Mexican Heritage. Wear Your Pride.

TRADICION is not fashion. It is a celebration. A reminder that our lineage is ancient, our pride is earned, and our story belongs to all of us.

TRADICION is the Mexican American FUBU — made by us, for all who carry our heritage, con respeto, con corazón, con orgullo.

This is our story. This is our movement. This is TRADICION.
