California is home to the largest population of Mexican Americans in the United States, with over 15.6 million people of Mexican heritage residing in the Golden State.
Despite varying economic conditions, our community continues to find ways to persevere. The first generation of Mexican Americans in particular made significant sacrifices, they undertook challenging journeys across the border and worked demanding jobs, all with the understanding that these struggles were necessary for the survival and prosperity of their families in this country.
For those fortunate enough to live in our beautiful state, it’s clear there’s no place quite like it. Yet, some critics suggest that ‘California stands for nothing,’ implying a lack of strong principles or distinct values. This couldn’t be further from the truth. California Mexicans have strong family values, brown pride, entrepreneurship, passion for lowriders, and affinity for our Mexican heritage.
